We open the show with a video package that highlights the main feuds heading into tonight, with a lot of time spent on the Cena/Rock vs. Awesome Truth match, of course.

The pyro hits and Michael Cole welcomes us to Survivor Series. The announcers hype some new kind of social network hub on WWE.com, and this leads directly into John Laurinaitis coming out. He lets the people know his exact title before saying tonight is his tenth anniversary here in WWE, on top of being the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series. This makes little sense as this leads us directly into the US Championship match. John Morrison is out first, getting a pretty weak reaction from the crowd.

WWE United States Championship

(C) Dolph Ziggler

vs.

John Morrison

The bell rings and we're ready to begin. The crowd is chanting that they want Ryder. Both men lock up and Dolph takes Morrison down to the mat and slaps at the back of his head before bailing to the outside to avoid Morrison's ire. Ziggler heads back into the ring and we get another lock up. Both men try for hammerlocks before Morrison takes Ziggler down to the mat with an arm bar. Ziggler fights off Morrison and beats and stomps on him in the corner.

Morrison avoids a charging Ziggler in the corner but eats a dropkick anyway. Ziggler takes Morrison over with a side head lock and the crowd is still chanting about Ryder. Morrison breaks the hold but falls to a shoulder block. Morrison is back on his feet and he tries for a hip toss but Ziggler lands on his feet. Morrison grabs his legs, slingshots him into the corner and sends him over the top rope. Morrison follows to the outside with a corkscrew plancha over the top before sending Ziggler back into the ring.

Morrison argues with Guerrero on the outside before getting back into the ring and the distraction allows Ziggler to hit a neck breaker for a near fall. Ziggler hits a beautiful high elbow drop. He gloats to the crowd before taking Morrison over with a fireman's carry for another near fall. Ziggler tries to wear JoMo down with a rear chin lock.

Morrison is able to fight up to his feet and out of the hold before being slammed back down to the mat by his hair. Ziggler kicks at Morrison, taunting and slapping him as well. Ziggler chokes Morrison with his boot while pulling on his hair. Ziggler slaps Morrison across the face, and this enrages Morrison, leading to him putting Ziggler in the corner and pounding away. The ref breaks things up and this allows Ziggler to hit an awesome suplex for another near fall.

Ziggler goes for the sleeper but Morrison tosses him off. Morrison hits a couple of clotheslines, a big kick to the jaw, and a neckbreaker for a near fall of his own. Ziggler kicks at Morrison's shins before going for a roll up with the tights. Morrison kicks out and he's able to connects with a springboard kick to the side of Ziggler's head for another two count. Morrison goes for a neckbreaker but he's pushed off. Ziggler goes for a head scissors, but floats around into a sleeper. Morrison reverses into a sleeper of his own, and when Ziggler fights it off Morrison hits a huge DDT, but Guerrero gets Ziggler's foot on the ropes to break the count. The ref sees it, so he sends Vickie to the back.

Vickie is furious, screaming the whole way to the back. Morrison picks Ziggler up and tries for a suplex but it's blocked by Ziggler, countered into a roll up for two. Morrison goes for a kick to the face but Ziggler moves and both men trade roll ups. Ziggler connects with the rocker dropper and goes for a pin but he still can't get three.

Ziggler goes for the sleeper again but he's shrugged off. Morrison hits a big knee to the side of Ziggler's head. Morrison goes for starship pain, but Ziggler gets his knees up and Morrison crashes into them. Ziggler connects with the Zig Zag, getting the three count and retaining his title.

Winner and STILL US Champion: Dolph Ziggler

Following the match Vickie runs right down to the ring to celebrate with her client/boyfriend. Vickie has the mic and she wants the crowd to excuse her before handing the mic to Ziggler. Ziggler says he'd hate to follow that. He says some people think he's a showoff, but it's not showing off if you back it up every night. The crowd is still chanting for Ryder, but Ziggler says he's not even here. Ziggler says he's not showing off, he's just really really good at what he does.

Ziggler's music is interrupted by Zack Ryder. Ryder gets ambushed right after getting into the ring, but Ryder fights back and connects with the Rough Ryder to send Ziggler out of the ring. Ziggler leads the crowd in a chant of 'woo woo woo', and he's got these fans more amped up than the whole first match.

Backstage:

CM Punk is shown warming up backstage. David Otunga comes in with a message from John Laurinaitis. Otunga says at Harvard, where he's from, he would call what happened to Cole last week an assault. Punk doesn't seem to care. Otunga says Johnny Ace would like Punk to apologize to Cole. Punk says he'll think about it, after he beats Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship tonight.

Backstage:

The Rock is shown backstage with a mic in his hand. He says Madison Square Garden, he wants to tell a story. He talks about watching his grandfather take on Superstar Billy Graham for the WWE Title. He talks about being a kid in the dressing room hanging out with Andre the Giant, watching his dad defend his tag team title. He talks about 1996 when he made his debut in this arena at Survivor Series. He says despite having a hideous outfit and the worst haircut known to man, this was the first arena to chant his name. The fans oblige by chanting his name now. Rock says that night started an Odyssey that would go down in WWE history. Rock runs down some of his most famous catchphrases in front of the crowd. Rock runs down some of the titles he's won, but he says on that night he became the People's Champion. He says after 7 long years he's finally come back because finally, FINALLY, the Rock has come back to New York City!

Rock says it's as simple as this boots to asses. He then turns his attention to Cena, who catches a ton of heat from the crowd just by being mentioned. Rock says Cena got his wish, but what he never counted on was that the Rock never comes alone. As he can clearly hear, Rock brings 17,000 strong, and they're going to take a lightning bolt and shoot it up Cena's ovulating lady parts. This gets a 'lady parts' chant going. Rock says everyone knows how special Madison Square Garden is. Frank Sinatra performed out there. Ali/Frazier was the fight of the century in this arena. Rock says tonight he wakes up in a city that never sleeps. Rock asks the crowd for help, and begins singing 'New York, New York'.

Rock says boots to asses, it's on, if you smell what the Rock is cooking!

WWE Diva's Championship

Lumberjill Match

(C) Beth Phoenix

vs.

Eve Torres

The divas who are acting as Lumberjill's make their way to the ring first, as a group. Eve is the first competitor to make her way out to the ring, to a bit of a reaction from the crowd. I haven't said it yet, but I have to say MSG looks a lot different, and I kind of miss the old set up. It looks like any other arena now.

Beth Phoenix is out next with Natalya in tow, she gets a bit of a reaction too.

The bell rings and we're ready to begin. Both women lock up and Beth pushes Eve away. Eve responds with a big forearm and she tries for a cross body but Beth catches her and just drops her to the mat. Eve kicks away at Beth before shaking her butt in Beth's face. Beth bails to the floor but she's sent right back in. Eve hits a neckbreaker and a standing moonsault for a near fall.

Eve goes to the apron and she's distracted by the heel diva's, this allows Beth to get the upper hand, and she slingshots Eve while her head is underneath the bottom rope. Beth locks in a rear chin lock, mounting Eve, to wear her down. Eve fights out of the hold, and is able to send Beth into the corner before hitting a flurry of elbows and kicks, finished off by a clothesline.

Eve goes for a senton but Beth gets her knees up and Eve crashed into them. Beth tries for the glam slam but Eve fights it off, locking in what looks to be an octopus hold. Beth is able to break the hold. Both women go for roll ups but can't get the win. Eve hits a big kick to the side of Beth's face. Eve goes up to the top, but Beth pushes her down on the top rope. Beth goes up to the top, but Eve fights back. Eve continues to try and fight back, but Beth grabs her arm, and delivers a glam slam from the top rope! Beth gets the three count to retain.

Winner and STILL WWE Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Traditional Survivor Series Match

Team Orton

Randy Orton, Sheamus, Mason Ryan, Kofi Kingston, and Sin Cara

vs.

Team Barrett

Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Hunico, and Dolph Ziggler

Wade Barrett is the first man from his team to make his way down to the ring. I can't tell if it's the new layout of the arena, or what, but this crowd seems pretty subdued for an NYC crowd. Jack Swagger is out next, and he too gets a pretty poor reaction.

Ziggler is the third man out for his team, saying 'oh, I'm gonna follow me' on his way out. Hunico is out next, and the crowd are absolutely sitting on their hands. Cody Rhodes is the final man out to the ring for his team, and he gets a decent reaction from the crowd. Cody is sans mask.

Mason Ryan is out next, and the crowd don't seem too amped up for him either. Team Captain Randy Orton is the last man out for his team and he gets a really good pop from the crowd on his way to the ring.

It looks like Ziggler and Kingston will be kicking things off for their respective teams. We get a lock up and Ziggler and Kofi chain wrestle for a bit, trading holds. Ziggler hits a big shoulderblock, but when he goes for a suplex Kofi lands on his feet. Kofi goes for a kick but misses so Ziggler hits one of his own for a near fall.

Kofi goes for the SOS, but misses. Kofi gets the tag to Orton who comes in and hits an RKO, pinning and eliminating Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler has been eliminated

Team Barrett bail to the outside to talk amongst themselves but it's broken up by Orton. Things break down and everyone is brawling. The heels are sent from the ring and Kofi and Cara go over the top at the same time. Cara's dive was nasty, not connecting well, and he looks to have gone down hurt. Trainers are checking on him and everyone seems confused as to what to do.

Justin Roberts announces Sin Cara is gone, Cole add it is because he is unable to continue.

Sin Cara is eliminated

Orton and Rhodes are in the ring, and it looks like we're finally going to continue the match. Orton kicks Cody and hits him with a nice European uppercut. Orton wrenches the arm and tags out to Ryan. Ryan comes in with a huge shoulderblock to Cody before picking him up and ramming him into the corner, repeatedly burying his shoulder in Rhodes' misdsection. Ryan goes for some kind of kick but Rhodes bails to the outside to avoid it. Barrett gives Rhodes a quick pep talk. Rhodes tags right out to Hunico. Hunico is brought into the match with a big hip toss. Ryan takes Hunico across the ring and tags in Kingston who comes in with a big stomp to Hunico.

Hunico sends Kofi into the corner hard, and this allows him to tag out to Barrett. Barrett comes in with a big punch to Kingston that puts him down for a two count. Barrett locks in a rear chin lock. Kofi fights to his feet just to be put back down for a near fall. Barrett locks in another rear chin lock. Kofi fights up to his feet and out of the hold. Both men go for and connect with clotheslines.

Hunico is able to get a blind tag to Rhodes who comes in and hits the beautiful disaster kick, and cross Rhodes for the three.

Sheamus comes in and locks up with Rhodes, taking him into the corner where the ref breaks it up. Sheamus unloads on Cody in the corner, wearing him down for a near fall. Rhodes catches Sheamus with a kick to the chest, but Sheamus comes back with a big back elbow. Sheamus ties Rhodes up in the ropes and hits him with several clubbing blows across the chest before bringing him back into the ring and hitting a huge suplex for a two count.

Barrett attacks Sheamus on the outside, sending him back first into the apron hard. Barrett sends Sheamus back into the ring and goes for a quick pin but only gets two. Barrett beats on Sheamus with repeated rights before tagging in Hunico who comes in with a big dropkick to Sheamus' leg. Sheamus fights back, punching and slapping at Hunico. Hunico tries to lock in a front face lock, but Sheamus tosses him off easily.

Kofi and Barrett tag in and Kofi hits Barrett with big punches and kicks before hitting a big dropkick. Kingston connects with the boom drop. He's distracted by Rhodes, and this allows Barrett to attack. Barrett sends Kofi into the corner, but Kofi hits him with a a couple of boots. Kingston hits Swagger with a couple of boots but he's ambushed by Barrett. Barrett connects with wasteland, and Kingston is pinned.

Sheamus goes for the Celtic cross but it's broken up by Barrett, who's also sent from the ring.

Sheamus buries knees in Swagger's chest, and he doesn't heed the ref who asks him to break by five. Sheamus is DQ'd.

Sheamus is eliminated

Sheamus is furious, so he hits Swagger with a bicycle kick on his way out. Orton crawls over and pins Swagger for three.

Backstage:

Albeto Del Rio is backstage with the Bella twins. He talks about taking them out to a Mexican restaurant, but he's interrupted by Johnny Ace, who doesn't know if Del Rio is taking tonight's match seriously. Del Rio asks if he watched Raw? Del Rio says tonight will be the first of many WWE Title defenses in Madison Square Garden. He asks if Ace has forgotten who he's talking to. He says he won't lose his belt to someone who should be sleeping on the subway. When Del Rio walks off, Ace hops on his phone to begin texting. Cole starts to say something, but he's cut off as we go to a promo for WWE's anti-bullying campaign.

Cole says that the ring crew has reinforced the ring, and they're actually checking it again before Henry vs. Big Show to make sure it's sturdy before the next match. This leads us to footage of WWE Vengeance last month when Mark Henry superplexed the Big Show and the ring was destroyed as a result.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

(C) Mark Henry

vs.

Big Show

We get formal ring introductions for both men, and we're ready to kick things off.

We get a lock up and Show pushes Henry down to the mat right off the bat. Another lock up, and this time Henry shoves Show away, though he doesn't fall to the mat. A third lock up and Show shoves Henry down to the mat. Henry bails to the outside.

Henry slowly makes his way back into the ring. Henry ducks the lock up and goes behind Show this time, but Show reverses and takes Henry down with a waist lock takedown. Show hits Henry with an arm drag (!), and this sends Henry bailing to the outside again.

Again, Henry slowly makes his way back into the ring, and Show attacks him immediately. Show hits Henry with kicks and punches and Henry is upset, arguing with the ref that he shouldn't be attacked while he's in the ropes. Back in the middle of the ring Show hits Henry with a couple of right hands, but Henry sends Show into the ropes and hits him with a huge chop block to the knee. Henry picks Show up by his leg and slams his knee down to the canvas.

Henry hits Show with an elbow drop to the knee and wrenches away at it, trying to wear Show down and force him to submit. Henry hits Show with another big elbow drop to the knee and continues to wrench away.

Show is able to break the hold, and when he gets up to his feet he's put right back down with a big clothesline from Henry. The crowd is chanting boring. Show is able to surprise Henry with a right hand and a DDT. Show goes for the pin, but he's only able to get a two count. Show hits Henry with a head butt. The crowd is now chanting for Daniel Bryan. Show hits Henry with a couple of big clotheslines, a back splash in the corner, and a shoulder block to put him to the mat.

Show calls for the chokeslam, but he can't get Henry up. Henry picks up Show and connects with the World's strongest slam, but when Henry goes for the pin, Show kicks out. Henry hits a big splash, and goes for the pin, but again Show kicks out at two.

Henry hits Show with a big elbow drop to the heart, but Show still will not go down for a three count. Now we're getting an 'Undertaker' chant from the crowd who only seem to want to amuse themselves. Henry sends Show to the outside and follows, ramming him hard into the ring post.

Henry psychs himself up, then charges Big Show, should tackling him through the barricade, and now the crowd is actually reacting to something happening in the match. Henry rolls back into the ring and tries to wait out Show while he's counted out. Show is able to struggle back into the ring at 8. Henry sends Show right back out to the apron, stands him up, and hits him with a couple of big head butts. Henry starts going up to the top, but Show fights him off and pushes Henry away. Show hits Henry with a (sort of) superkick, and now the crowd's chanting for 'HBK'.

Big Show goes all the way to the top, looking really apprehensive. Show steadiest himself on the top rope. Show goes all the way to the top and launches himself off with a HUGE elbow drop. Show drapes his arm over Henry, but Henry kicks out at two!

Now we're getting a 'Randy Savage' chant, awesome. Show goes for the WMD, but Henry ducks it and hits Show with a blatant low blow right in front of the referee. Henry is DQ'd, and this one is over.

Winner: Big Show
STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Mark Henry

After the match, Henry goes to the outside and grabs a chair. Henry scares away the ref, and wraps the chair around Big Show's ankle. Show is able to move before Henry comes crashing down on top, and Henry falls to the mat. Show is up, and when Henry gets up, Show meets him with the WMD to put down the Champion. The crowd, of course, chants for Daniel Bryan following the WMD. Show pauses, then looks over at the chair. Show takes the chair and wraps it around Henry's ankle. Show drops a leg on the chair, crunching down on Henry's ankle. The Champ grabs his ankle and screams in pain.

Backstage:

Wade Barrett is backstage with Matt Striker. Barrett says he proved tonight that the Barrett barrage is unstoppable. He says the reason he's here is because he want's to be England's first World Champion. He's interrupted by Miz and R-Truth. Barrett walks off in disgust. Miz says this is the problem, all the focus is everywhere but where it should be. Truth says the most charismatic tag team of all time is right here. He asks why he and Miz aren't on the side of buses. No, it's Rock and Cena. Truth says he saw all the pigeons staring up at the Rock and Cena, so he screamed at the pigeons that the Rock and Cena would lost tonight. He says the pigeons didn't say anything back to them, because they're pigeons, and they don't talk, all they do is crap. Miz says that's what Cena and Rock are, a load of crap. Truth says tonight, crap is gonna get got.

We get a video package that details the history between CM Punk and Del Rio over the past few months, leading into our next match.

(C) Alberto Del Rio

vs.

CM Punk

Ricardo Rodriguez is out first to introduce the WWE Champion. Del Rio comes out to the ring in a beautiful Aston Martin red convertible.

The crowd is chanting for Punk before Del Rio's music even hits. Apparently, Punk has a personal ring announcer for the evening as well, WWE Hall of Famer, Howard Finkel. The Fink makes his way out from the back to a big pop from the crowd. The crowd is actually chanting for the Fink! Howard finally makes the announcement, and it's amazing! Del Rio is able to fight out of the hold and send Punk into the ropes, where he beats away on him. The ref pulls Del Rio away and Ricardo gets in a cheap shot. Punk chases Ricardo around the ring, but he's caught with a dropkick through the ropes by Del Rio. Del Rio heads out and slams Punk's hand and arm into the ring steps before sending Punk back into the ring.

Main Event Of The Evening

The Rock & John Cena

vs.

The Miz & R-Truth

Miz and Truth are, obviously, the first men to make their way out to the ring. Miz is nice enough to dedicate their entrance song to the NYC crowd, letting them know that the suck.

Cena is out next and he gets a hostile welcome to MSG. Cena stops to talk to the camera, saying the fans love him here in New York City.

And last, but most certainly not least, the man a lot of people bought this PPV just to see, The Rock! Rocky makes his way out to the ring looking absolutely JACKED, and he gets the pop of the night by far.

It looks like Rock and Miz are going to start things out for their respective teams. We get a long stare down before the Rock looks out to the crowd. Both men begin circling each other before locking up. The Rock locks in a side head lock, but Miz pushes him off, only to eat a big shoulder block. Rock hits Miz with an arm drag, then one for Truth, another for Miz. Rock tosses Truth from the ring and ties up Miz with a magistral cradle. It only gets two, but Miz bails to the outside and Awesome Truth look angry.

The fans are kind enough to let the Rock know he's still got it. Truth says he wants in, Rock says if he wants some, to come get some. Truth and Rock circle each other before lock up. Rock locks in another side head lock. Rock turns around into a hammerlock, but Truth reverses. Rock fights off the hold. Truth ducks a clothesline, Rock ducks a kick. Rock hits Truth with a right hand to the mouth. Rock connects with a fisherman's suplex on Truth, but Cena is arguing with Miz and the ref, and the pin isn't counted. Rock doesn't look too happy when he gets up, jawing with Cena (who still have that stupid smile on his face since Monday) for a bit.

Miz wants back into the ring, so he gets the tag. Miz says he doesn't want any more of Rock, he wants Cena. The fans don't sound too happy about that. Rock slaps Cena's hand, tagging out. Cena makes his way slowly into the ring, playing up the dissension between the two.

Cena and Miz lock up and Cena takes Miz down with a couple of snap mares before taking him into the corner, and hitting a big monkey flip. Cena follows up with a dropkick and Miz scurries to the corner to make the tag to Truth. The fans still are not impressed with Cena, and are letting him know that he still sucks. Truth shoves Cena and dances... at him? Cena responds with a couple of big shoulder blocks and a belly to back suplex. Cena calls for the five knuckle shuffle, walking over to the Rock and doing the 'you can't see me' motion. Rock doesn't look too happy and he actually gets into the ring to confront Cena. When Cena turns around Truth blasts him with a clothesline. Truth makes the tag to Miz who comes in kicking away at Cena.

Miz hits Cena with a big kick to the face before tagging back out to Truth and they hit a double shoulder block. Truth locks in a rear chin lock, but it's not long before Cena fights out of the hold. Truth sends Cena crashing shoulder first into the ring post, and Cena falls to the outside.

Truth goes to the outside where he slams Cena head first into the apron before sending him back into the ring. Truth tries for the cover but Cena kicks out at two. Truth locks in a head scissors to try and wear down Cena. The crowd is chanting that they want Rocky. Cena is able to work his way out of the hold, but he's kicked away to the outside by Truth. Truth follows, sending Cena right back into the ring and trying for another cover for two. Truth tags out to the Miz who Cena shoulders right away, but Miz fights out of it and hits a low DDT for another near fall.

Miz hits Cena with his running clothesline in the corner. Truth hits Cena with a cheap shot while the ref's back is turned and Miz goes for the pin but still only gets a two count. Truth tags back in and they hit a double suplex, but it's still not enough to keep Cena down for three. Rock is pacing back and forth on the ring apron. Truth locks in a front face lock and Cena struggles to inch toward his corner.

Cena's fingertips are close, but Truth drags Cena back to his own corner where he beats down on Cena, and allows Miz to get in a couple of cheap shots. Miz tags back in and he hits Cena with a big right hand. Miz taunts Cena, but when he goes for another punch, Cena blocks it. Cena attacks Truth, but when he turns around Miz catches him off guard with a big clothesline for another two count. Miz tags out to Truth who comes in and goes for a pin of his own, but he can't get three either.

Truth hits Cena with a big legdrop and gets another near fall out of it. Truth goes to the apron and climbs up to the top rope, jawing with the crowd the whole time. Truth tries for a cross body, but Cena rolls through, and stands up with Truth. Cena tries to shoulder Truth, but Truth avoids it and plants Cena with a front suplex for another two count. Truth mounts Cena with a couple of punches before tagging back out to Miz.

Miz kicks at Cena while taunting the Rock the whole time. Cena is able to avoid a kick and he locks Miz into the STF, but Truth is in to break it up. Cena shoulders Truth and plants him with the AA, but Cena can't take advantage.

Miz tags back in and takes out Rock to avoid Cena making the tag. Truth attacks Rock on the outside of the ring, body slamming him chest first into the barricade. Back in the ring, Miz makes the tag to Truth, and Rock comes in to try and get some revenge. It doesn't work as the ref is distracted and it allows Miz and Truth to double team Cena for another near fall. Truth locks in a front face lock.

Truth puts Cena down to the mat, and tries for some kind of weird fancy leg drop, making fun of the People's elbow I'm sure, but Truth misses it. Both men are able to make the tag and the Garden explodes. Rock comes in beating on both men. Rock plants Miz with the DDT before hitting Truth with the Rock Bottom. Rock takes Miz over with an arm drag and locks in the sharpshooter. Miz screams and tries to reach for the ropes, but Rock pulls him to the middle of the ring. Truth breaks up the hold, but he's speared by Cena and he and Truth fight to the outside.

Miz tries to take advantage, punching and kicking at Rock, but Rock connects with a spinebuster out of nowhere. Rock walks around Miz's body toward his head. He reaches up and pulls off his elbow pad before delivering the People's elbow. Rock goes for the pin, and this one is over.

Winner: John Cena and The Rock

After the match, Rock celebrates in the ring, posing in the corners. Cena applauds Rock as he makes his way toward the back. Rock calls for the crowd to quiet down, and his music to stop. He doesn't look too happy with Cena clapping for him. Cena makes his way back into the ring. Cena poses on the turnbuckle, but gets nothing but heat for it. Cena comes back into the ring, and he and Rock have a few words.

Rock goes up to the corner to pose again, getting a ton of love from the crowd, but when Cena goes up he gets a ton of heat yet again. Rock shakes his head at Cena. Rock says he wants to do this one more time, so he tells Cena to watch him. Rock goes up to another corner to pose again, and the crowd loves him.

Cena and Rock stand face to face in the ring and have words. Cena goes to leave, but Rock plants him with a Rock Bottom. Cena rolls out of the ring and a ways up the entrance ramp. The PPV ends with Rock staring down Cena as Cena makes his way to the back. Rock circles the ring one last time, thanking the fans, before climbing the turnbuckle for one final pose of the night.

Aaron Rosa vs. Matt Lucas

Round 1

Lucas lunges forward with a couple lefts to start us off, then works his way into the clinch before flinging Rosa to the mat for a brief scramble. Rosa tries a headkick that's blocked, then walks right into a decent left from Lucas. Lucas clinches again and then punches his way out. Lucas lands another left and thinks about dropping for a takedown, but abandons the idea and settles for a clinch. Rosa lands a nice knee, his best strike of the fight so far. Referee Big John McCarthy pauses the bout to replace Lucas' mouthpiece. On the replay it sure looks like he spit it out on purpose. Hard left from Lucas after the restart, and then it's back to the clinch. Rosa lands a knee to the body, and I'm starting to wonder why Lucas insists on clinching so much when he's doing well enough when he strikes from a distance. Lucas seems obsessed with getting a takedown before the round ends. Rosa isn't having it, and he batters Lucas with kicks to the body before the round ends.

Round 2

After nearly eating a kick to the face, Lucas successfully times a Rosa right hand and drops under it for a takedown. His corner is pretty pumped about it, but again Rosa is back up in a hurry. Lucas continues to pursue the same strategy, however, going straight into the clinch and looking for the single-leg that he's been unable to complete thus far. His corner shouts at him to "get active" as Rosa is elbowing him about the head and body, but Lucas can't oblige them. Rosa breaks the clinch with a standing kimura, and almost right away Lucas stuns him with a right hook. Rosa clinches up and lands a knee to the body with a minute left in the round. Lucas seems to be waiting for an opening to shoot the double-leg, and McCarth again stops the bout to replace Lucas' mouthpiece. This time McCarthy is hip to Lucas' game and deducts a point from him. That's costly, but also justified. Lucas gets a takedown before the round ends, but can't do anything with it and Rosa is back up before the round ends.

Round 3

They come out guns a-blazing to start the final round. Rosa stings Lucas with straight punch right on the nose, then Lucas is back to the clinch and looking for that elusive takedown again. Rosa lands a couple sharp elbows in close and Lucas is starting to look worn just as his corner is starting to look frustrated. Good knee by Rosa, and Lucas' cornerman throws his water bottle down in disgust. Lucas continues looking for that takedown, but Rosa is doing all the damage now. He turns Lucas' back to the cage and peppers him with short strikes. Rosa follows up another good knee with a two-punch combo. There goes that mouthpiece again. This time there's no point deduction, but McCarthy restarts them in the clinch after Lucas' corner sends him off with the instruction to "swing away, Matt!" It's Rosa who's doing most of the swinging in the final minute, and the fight ends with another unsuccessful takedown attempt by Lucas.

Aaron Rosa def. Matt Lucas via majority decision (28-28, 30-26, 30-26)

Mike Pierce vs. Paul Bradley

Round 1

Referee Larry Landless, sporting a bleached mohawk, get us started. Bradley appears to be the slightly quicker fighter right off the bat. He's bouncing around, firing off combos and Pierce is struggling to keep up. Bradley comes forward behind a quick combo and forces Pierce back. Pierce starts to settle into his striking, and Bradley disrupts him by dropping down and looking for the takedown. He can't quite finish it, but he does briefly take Pierce's back in the ensuing scramble. Good left hook by Bradley after they separate, and there's less than a minute to go. Bradley lands a nice knee to the body in the clinch, and it's Pierce who's looking the worse for wear after one.

Round 2

Bradley starts the second with a quick combo that jacks Pierce's jaw to the side. Pierce comes forward behind a right hand and looks for the takedown, but Bradley stops him and fires off a couple good knees in the clinch. They separate and again Pierce looks for the takedown, but he's not even getting close. Bradley's takedown defense looks solid. Two straight jabs from Pierce force Bradley's chin dangerously high, but he again looks for the takedown and gets stuck in the clinch. Pierce clams a big right hand into Bradley's jaw, but instead of following up with more strikes his instinct seems to be to lunge right into the clinch, halting his own momentum. Bradley nearly gets a takedown of his own, and they're back to the clinch, leaning on one another in the final minute and looking for a breather. Bradley attempts to get some offense started in the final ten seconds, but it's Pierce who lands more effectively.

Round 3

Both men start the final round firing off combos and looking full of life all of a sudden, but before long they're back to the clinch. Bradley's corner is screaming at him to "work the full five minutes," and if he could do it he might take this fight on the basis of that alone. Bradley gets busy with a combo, then shoots for a takedown that comes up short. They're mired in the clinch again, and Bradley is taking some deep breaths before Landless moves in to restart them. Pierce lands a good right hand and this time resists the urge to clinch immediately afterward. Bradley times a takedown just right and gets Pierce to the mat, but can't ever fully get control of him and has to let him up. Bradley's corner is imploring him to get to work in the final minute, but Pierce is doing a good job of countering him right up until the final bell.

Mike Pierce def. Paul Bradley via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28)

Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres vs. Cole Escovedo

Round 1

Herb Dean gets the bantamweights started and they touch gloves in the middle of the cage right before Caceres front kicks Escovedo in the chest. Caceres is certainly the more active fighter to start with. He backs Escovedo up with kicks and fires off a couple punch combos, but Escovedo is staying calm. Good left hand by Caceres, but as he loosens up he's also leaving himself open. A pretty spinning backfist by Caceres lands cleanly, and Escovedo is starting to look like maybe this kid is better than he expected. They fight for position in the Thai clinch and Caceres trips Escovedo down before adding a few punches and then letting him up. Caceres is in control now. His unpredictability has Escovedo on the defensive. An inside leg kick by Caceres sounds like it caught some cup, and he bows in apology, but Escovedo isn't interested in that. He shoves Herb Dean away and drops Caceres with a high kick, then goes on the attack before the horn.

Round 2

Caceres goes back to work with his kicks and it succeeds in keeping Escovedo against the fence. Good front kick and right hand jab by Caceres. A head kick attempt is blocked by Escovedo, but he still felt the impact. They end up in a scramble on the mat for just a moment after a nifty little foot sweep from Escovedo, but Caceres gets back to his feet and digs a right to Escovedo's body as he's getting up. Escovedo tries again to bring Caceres down, but Caceres wants no part of his guard, and insists on bringing it back to the feet. Another spinning backfist by Caceres, this one less successful. He finishes the round still in control, with Escovedo finding few answers for his style.

Round 3

Caceres starts the final frame with a good kick to the body that pushes Escovedo back. Escovedo shoots in and nearly gets caught in a guillotine as he forces Caceres to the mat. Caceres loses the choke, but keeps working off his back, cycling through an impressive array of submissions. Triangle choke, kimura, straight armbar, oma plata -- Escovedo has to defend against all of them before the fight finally returns to the feet, and in the process he may have lost all the good work he did with the takedown. Caceres fires off a good high kick at the end of a combo, but Escovedo just smiles. Escovedo gets a takedown moments later and briefly takes Caceres' back, but he can't get the finish he almost certainly needs. Back on the feet, the fight ends with Caceres catching an Escovedo body kick and stinging him with a straight left.

Alex Caceres def. Cole Escovedo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Mackens Semerzier vs. Robert Peralta

Round 1

Big John McCarthy gets the fighters started. Quick glove tough, and then almost immediately the bout is paused due to an inadvertent kick to the pills by Semerzier. After the restart Semerzier uses a kick by Peralta to transition to a takedown, but they end up stuck in the clinch against the fence. Semerzier lifts him up with a high crotch grab but can't put him down. Semerzier catches a Peralta body kick and drops him with a hook, sending Peralta somersaulting away. Semerzier charges in, but Peralta recovers quickly and minimizes the damage. Semerzier catches another Peralta kick and yanks him to the mat. "No more kicks, Robbie!" shouts Peralta's corner. Semerzier goes to work with some ground-and-pound, but has to be wary of Peralta's guard. Good right hand from Semerzier at the ten second mark, and Peralta gets to his feet just in time for the horn.

Round 2

They come to the center and trade jabs right away. Peralta lands a blistering right that drops Semerzier, then pours on more punches and hammer fists as Semerzier scrambles for a takedown. Semerzier manages to hold on and get his wits about him, but he still seems unsteady. There's a brief pause after another kick to the pills by Semerzier, but they go back to work quickly. They trade kicks, and Peralta's corner is calling out for the left hook. Peralta fires a right hook and eats an uppercut. Semerzier clinches up, looking for underhooks and a takedown, but can't get it. Peralta frees himself, but it's Semerzier who finishes the round slightly stronger.

Round 3

Peralta's corner is trying to get him to throw more combos and fewer single punches, but Semerzier's kicks are still keeping him from getting set and firing off too many blows at once. They throw at the same time and both connect, but it's Semerzier who goes down almost out of nowhere. Peralta jumps on him and hammers away as Semerzier clings to a leg. Semerzier is struggling to stay in it, but McCarthy has seen enough and moves in to stop it. Peralta's corner floods in to celebrate, but a replay confirms that it was a clash of heads that put Semerzier down, not a punch. Semerzier pounds the mat in frustration, and Peralta is sporting an enormous lump on his forehead, but for the moment it stands as a TKO win. Semerzier might have a good case for a no contest appeal.

Robert Peralta def. Mackens Semerzier via TKO at 1:54 of round three

Norifumi ‘KID’ Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama

Round 1

Uyenoyama patiently stalks Yamamoto, but the "Kid" is all over the place early on. Trying to pin him down is like trying to stab jello with a fork. He dances all around Uyenoyama, then finally stops long enough to clinch him against the fence. Uyenoyama pushes back and Yamamoto flings him to the mat, but can't keep him there. Seconds later, a big throw by Yamamoto puts Uyenoyama down. I am officially already tired of typing these long names, by the way. Back on their feet, Uyenoyama catches a high kick and puts Yamamoto down with it, peppering him with rights from the top. Yamamoto briefly takes top position in the scramble, but Uyenoyama takes his back and looks for the choke in the final minute. He cinches in the rear-naked choke right at the 10-second mark, but Yamamoto holds on. Or does he? A flutter of the hand looks suspiciously like a tap, but not to referee Larry Landless apparently. Uyenoyama thinks it's over, but we're going another round.

Round 2

However oxygen-deprived he may have been, Yamamoto is fresh now. He catches Uyenoyama with a knee coming in, but ends up giving up the takedown eventually. Yamamoto tries to scramble up, but again gives up his back, this time with plenty of time left in the round. Yamamoto has control of one wrist, but Uyenoyama has him in a body triangle and seems plenty patient. Uyenoyama again looks for the RNC, but it doesn't look like he's all the way under Yamamoto's chin. Uyenoyama switches tactics and takes to battering Yamamoto with punches from behind in the final minute. "Keep doing damage!" shouts Uyenoyama's corner. There's the horn, and Yamamoto is freed once again.

Round 3

Yamamoto slips off a leg kick, but Uyenoyama can't capitalize. Yamamoto manages to put Uyenoyama on his back for the first time since the first round, but Uyenoyama has him stymied by a high guard, and Yamamoto seems to be at a loss. Yamamoto stands up, but this only earns him a sharp upkick from Uyenoyama. Back on their feet now, Uyenoyama fires off a glancing head kick. Yamamoto looks for the clinch and tries to hip toss Uyenoyama down, but nothing doing. Landless pulls them apart for a restart in the final 30 seconds. Good lunging right hook lands for Yamamoto, but he doesn't follow up.

Darren Uyenoyama def. "Kid" Yamamoto via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-27)

Clay Harvison vs. DaMarques Johnson

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean gets us started for this welterweight bout. They meet in the center of the cage and do very little in the way of feeling each other out, preferring to throw hard right off the bat. Johnson backs Harvison up against the fence and lunges in with a left uppercut that lands perfectly. Harvison collapses and Johnson raises his hands in victory, perhaps a little prematurely. He adds one more brutal right hand, then holds back on the second one when he sees it's thoroughly unnecessary.

DaMarques Johnson def. Clay Harvison via TKO (punches) at 1:34 of round one

Cub Swanson vs. Ricardo Lamas

Round 1

Big John McCarthy starts them off. Swanson's looking light on his feet, bouncing and feinting and looking to do some work with his kicks. Lamas pumps the jab, and Swanson attacks with low leg kicks. An inside leg kick by Swanson slips up into the bathing suit area, and Lamas gets a second to gather himself. They restart quickly and Lamas gets a takedown fairly easily. He moves into half-guard and softens Swanson up with some left hands. Lamas tries to improve his position, but Swanson locks up a guillotine and it looks tight. Lamas hangs on and brings Swanson up with him, and Swanson eventually lets it go. Both fighters take turns bringing out their flashier kicks, then smile in approval at one another. Blistering punch combo from Swanson and Lamas may be hurt. They're both swinging big now, and we have ourselves a fight.

Round 2

Swanson starts us off with a double jab and straight right, and Lamas answers with a head kick the pushes him back. Lamas picks Swanson up for a slam and Swanson looks to employ the rubber guard, but to little effect. Lamas postures up and throws, then moves around to take Swanson's back once he tries to stand. Swanson goes to put his back on the mat, thinking about a guillotine, and Lamas slips beautifully into an arm triangle choke. Swanson is in trouble. He tries to walk up the fence, but there's no escape there. He has no choice but to tap. Great finish to an exciting fight.

Ricardo Lamas def. Cub Swanson via submission (arm triangle choke) at 2:16 of round two

Pablo Garza vs. Dustin Poirier

Round 1

Larry Landless and his magnificent mohawk start things off. Poirier claims the center of the cage right away with Garza circling on the outside. Head kick by Poirier is blocked, so he attacks with a flurry of punches as long as Garza is covered up. Good body kick by Garza, but Poirier catches it and fires off a left before tossing him down. Moments later, the exact same thing happens. Garza reverses the trend, catching a Poirier kick and putting him down, though Garza ends up on his back after the scramble. Garza upkicks at Poirier to convince him to let him up, but seconds later Poirier has him on his back again, this time up against the fence with about a minute left. Poirier tries to work some ground-and-pound, but can't get much going. He'll settle for ending the round on top.

Round 2

Garza slips on a kick attempt to start the round, but is back up quickly, only to get put down by Poirier shortly thereafter. Poirier looking to do damage out of Garza's half-guard, but as Garza tries to get an underhook and come up Poirier locks in a slick D'arce choke. Garza senses the danger too late and he can't get free. He has to tap, and it's an easy win for Poirier.

Dustin Poirier def. Pablo Garza via submission (D'arce choke) at 1:32 of round two

UFC On Fox 1

Co-Main Event Of The Evening

Clay Guida
(28-11-0)

vs.

Benson Henderson
(14-2-0)

Round 1

Herb Dean is our referee for this bout. He gives them the signal to start, and right away Guida comes bouncing out to the center of the cage, hair flying everywhere. They square off and swing away, and Guida goes down. He recovers quickly and reaches for Henderson's legs even as Henderson keeps peppering him with short punches. Guida keeps digging for the takedown and Henderson is forced to put all his energy into defending for the moment. A chant of "Guida!" erupts in the crowd. Henderson manages to turn Guida and put his back against the fence in the clinch. Guida distracts Henderson with a short hook and then nearly gets the takedown, but they settle for disengaging and moving back towards the center. Jumping knee attempt from Guida, then a hard right that hurts Henderson. Guida tries to lock up a guillotine as Henderson tries for the takedown to let himself recover. They separate in the final ten seconds and Henderson goes to work with kicks before the horn. The crowd roars its approval.

Round 2

Henderson catches Guida leaning in and hammers him with a knee. Guida shoots and gets the takedown, but can't keep Henderson down. Henderson turns it around with a takedown of his own, but Guida works up to his feet. Henderson works short punches and knees in the clinch, and Guida fires off a hook before getting another takedown. There is an awful lot of hair flying around in this cage. Henderson works back up and they continue battling in the clinch before working their way out. Spinning backfist from Guida surprises Henderson, but Guida loses his balance and tumbles to the mat. Henderson follows, looking to keep him down, and Guida nearly locks up a guillotine. Henderson gets off to the side and then takes Guida's back in the scramble, but there's not enough time for him to capitalize.

Round 3

The crowd gives both fighters a huge ovation to start the third and final round. It doesn't take long before they square up and trade bombs again, with each man landing well. Henderson tosses out an axe kick that looks like something from a Taekwondo tournament. They clinch against the fence and Guida marches Henderson all the way across the cage in search of a takedown, but Henderson defends well and reverses him. Good knees in the clinch from Henderson, but Guida steps back with a hook and a head kick that both just miss. Henderson uses the whiffed kick to put Guida on his back, then takes his back when he tries to escape. Henderson has the body triangle here in the final minute, but Guida escapes and puts Henderson down. Guida's trying to lock up a guillotine from the top, but Henderson is hanging on, bucking from the bottom and forcing him to shift his weight. Guida's squeezing with everything he's got, but Henderson slips free and dumps him on his back, standing up and blasting away to the back of his head just before the horn. Herb Dean steps in to correct this, but the fight's already over, so it's just a friendly conversation.

Ben Henderson def. Clay Guida via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

UFC On Fox 1

Main Event Of The Evening

UFC Heavyweight Title Match (5, 5mins Round)

UFC Heavyweight Champion

Cain Velasquez
(9-0-0)

vs.

Junior Dos Santos
(13-1-0)

Round 1

Big John McCarthy beckons the fighters to the center of the Octagon, and they carefully oblige. JDS lands a nice straight right off a Velasquez leg kick. Velasquez keeps pressing forward, but dos Santos tags him again. Velasquez tries for a takedown off a dos Santos kick, but he doesn't even really come close. A right hand from dos Santos catches Velasquez behind the ear and he goes down hard. JDS pounces with a series of lefts, then bombs Velasquez with more blows as he attempts to roll over. Velasquez is out, and McCarthy has to step in. Velasquez seemed to come to just after the stoppage, but he was still out of it for several seconds afterward. JDS, meanwhile, went to the center of the Octagon and collapsed with joy. We have a new UFC heavyweight champion.

Junior dos Santos def. Cain Velasquez via TKO (punches) at 1:04 of round one. Becomes The New Heavyweight Champion

What a night it was across the board. Lesner/Overeem will battle in December to determine the #1 contender for Dos Santos and Benson Henderson becomes the new #1 contender & will face Frankie Edgar for the Lightweight title down the line.
